The Duroc breed is one that we’ve invested a lot of effort towards being able to offer what we feel are some of the best boars in the breed. We have been fortunate enough to lay in some big time sires that have gone on to generate success for our customers. In breeding hogs, people tend to follow hot genetic lines and then always look for that outcross pedigree to make the next generation better. When we studied the Norman boars at Louisville, we felt this was that step to take in terms of an outcross for the popular sires already standing here. Sired by Slats, this boar is quickly making a name for himself. The Challenger dam is a good one as she is the Reserve Champion STC Gilt from last summer that Foridce sold for $18,500! Amongst the group of boars they had there, we felt NEW DIRECTION was the one to lay in. The way he combined a true width advantage at the ground with a shapely, well built skeleton was impressive. It took $29,000 to secure this one and we are glad to have Robin Ridge Farm as a partner with us on him. When we study NEW DIRECTION, his freedom and ease of movement is impressive. He is big footed and big legged and plants them square and true. From the side, he is tall fronted, dead level and has an awesome look. This one balances extremely well and puts together some impressive pieces hard to find in the Duroc breed. This is one we feel can be the next elite one for us and take Duroc hogs in a NEW DIRECTION!!!
